Best new car discounts this month

Dealerships this month will be offering end-of-the-year discounts and benefits in order to clear stocks.


Honda Jazz diesel
Save up to Rs 85,000
Honda’s Jazz is a slow-selling model compared to its rivals, the Maruti Suzuki Baleno and the Hyundai i20. However, it packs a spacious and practical cabin, and decent petrol and diesel engines. The petrol also comes with an automatic option. The manufacturer has planned a refresh in the near future for the model, as well. Dealers are currently offering discounts and benefits of around Rs 85,000 at select locations, depending on inventory.

Hyundai i20 and i20 Active
Save up to Rs 65,000
The Hyundai i20 and its cross-hatchback sibling are available with petrol as well as diesel engines. What’s more, the standard i20 now comes with a petrol-auto variant, as well. The i20 Active and the regular model are now being offered with benefits of up to Rs 65,000 at most dealerships. The Korean carmaker is likely to unveil the updated i20 and the i20 Active at the upcoming Auto Expo in February, 2018.

Maruti WagonR 
Save up to Rs 65,000

The current-gen Maruti WagonR has been on sale in India for quite some time. Well-known
for its effortless-to-drive nature, it is powered by a 68hp, 1.0-litre, three-cylinder, petrol engine. Dealers are now offering discounts and benefits of around Rs 65,000 with the tall-boy hatchback.

Tata Tiago
Save up to Rs 26,000
Tata is offering up to Rs 26,000 off on its Tiago hatchback in a bid to push end-of-the-year sales. As part of the 'Mega Offer Max Celebration' campaign, the discount will apply to the 85hp, 1.2-litre petrol engine model and the 70hp, 1.1-litre diesel one. The petrol engine comes with the option of a five-speed automatic instead of the standard five-speed manual offered on the diesel.

Toyota Etios Liva
Save up to Rs 35,000

Toyota’s entry-level model in India – the Etios Liva – looks dated, as compared to newer rivals but when it comes to cabin space and legroom, it trumps. It is available with a 68hp, 1.4-litre diesel or an 80hp, 1.2-litre petrol engine, although neither of these comes with an automatic transmission. Toyota is offering discounts of around Rs 35,000 on select variants, at most locations.


Mahindra XUV500
Save up to Rs 65,000
Mahindra’s XUV500 comes with seating for seven, a punchy diesel engine – and long list of equipment. While it is now facing stiff competition from the likes of the Renault Captur, Hyundai Creta and Jeep Compass, a more powerful and slightly updated variant coming soon may help its sales. Dealers are offering discounts of around Rs 65,000 on the current model in order to clear stocks.

Renault Duster AMT
Save up to Rs 1.10 lakh
Renault’s robust SUV, the Duster, has been on sale for a while. However, the top-spec Duster AMT isn’t a fast mover. In order to keep sales ticking, Renault is offering cash discounts and benefits of around Rs 1.10 lakh at most outlets.

Tata Hexa
Save up to Rs 78,000

As a part of the 'Mega Offer Max Celebration' campaign, Tata is offering a discount on its Hexa SUV to push sales for the end of the year. Higher-spec trims of the seven-seat SUV come with a 156hp, 2.2-litre diesel motor mated to either a six-speed manual or a six-speed automatic. The lowest XE variant, however, is powered by a 150hp, 2.2-litre diesel, paired with a five-speed manual.

Tata Safari Storme
Save up to Rs 1 lakh

Discounts worth Rs 1 lakh are being offered on Safari Storme as part of Tata’s 'Mega Offer Max Celebration' campaign. Like the Hexa, the Safari Storme’s lower variants get the 150hp, 2.2-litre diesel mated to a five-speed manual, while higher trims come with the 156hp, 2.2-litre diesel paired to a six-speed manual.


Audi A3 diesel
Save up to Rs 4.5 lakh
The Audi A3 sedan offers a well-built cabin and is loaded with equipment. The inside, however, is tight on space and the diesel variant suffers from a floaty ride. Discounts and benefits of upto Rs 4.5 lakh are being offered on the A3 diesel, which rivals the Mercedes-Benz CLA, in the Indian market.

Maruti Ciaz diesel
Save up to Rs 1 lakh

Maruti’s Ciaz may be one of the best value-for-money contenders in its class thanks to ample cabin space, good ride quality and a decent equipment list. However, it not as much fun to drive and feels underpowered, at times, when compared to its competition, like the Honda City. The recent hike in GST affected sales of the SHVS diesel hybrid variant quite hard, which has prompted Maruti to offer discounts and benefits of around Rs 1 lakh for the Ciaz diesel, to keep stocks moving.

Toyota Corolla Altis
Save up to Rs 75,000
Even though the Altis received a facelift, recently; it continues to remains a slow seller due to the recent rise in demand for SUVs. It comes in two variants – a 140hp, 1.8-litre petrol engine and an underpowered 88hp, 1.4-litre diesel engine. The car rivals the likes of the Hyundai Elantra and the Skoda Octavia. Dealers are offering discounts and benefits of around Rs 75,000, depending on availability.

Tata Tigor
Save up to Rs 32,000

Tata’s compact sedan, the Tigor, now comes with an end-of-the-year discount as part of the manufacturer’s 'Mega Offer Max Celebration' campaign. The petrol and diesel engine options, along with the transmission options, are shared with the Tiago hatchback, mentioned above.

Tata Zest
Save up to Rs 68,000

A rather large discount is being offered by Tata on its Zest sedan as part of its year-end sale. The compact sedan is powered by a 90hp, 1.2-litre petrol and a 1.3-litre diesel in 75hp and 90hp states of tune, respectively.

Volkswagen Ameo
Save up to Rs 85,000

Volkswagen’s rival to the Dzire, the Ameo, is being offered with discounts of around Rs 85,000. The compact sedan is available with a 75hp, 1.2-litre petrol and a 110hp, 1.5-litre diesel engine paired to a five-speed manual – although the latter comes with the option of a seven-speed, dual-clutch automatic. The solidly built and feature-laden cabin is one of its highlights. Apart from the Dzire, it also competes with the likes of the Hyundai Xcent, the Tata Zest and the Figo Aspire.


Toyota Innova Crysta 
Save up to Rs 1 lakh

The second-gen Innova is offers space and comfortable seating, as well as a great ride quality. It does, however, feel ponderous in traffic and suffers from a heavy steering. It continues to be the benchmark in the MPV segment in our market, though. The MPV is powered by either a 166hp, 2.7-litre petrol, a 150hp, 2.4-litre diesel or a 174hp, 2.8-litre diesel engine. The first two are mated to a five-speed manual; the petrol gets an optional six-speed automatic, while the 2.8-litre diesel only comes with a six-speed auto gearbox. Select dealers are now offering discounts on the Innova Crysta VX variant, going as high as Rs 1 lakh, depending on stocks.

Maruti Ertiga diesel
Save up to Rs 95,000

Like the Ciaz, the Ertiga diesel (with Smart-hybrid tech) also got a price hike due to GST, which hit sales, to some extent. In order to push sales, Maruti is now offering discounts and benefits up to Rs 95,000 at most dealerships. The Ertiga comes with a 92hp, 1.4-litre petrol or a 90hp, 1.3-litre diesel engine, both mated to a five-speed manual. The petrol also gets an optional four-speed automatic transmission.
