Best new car discounts this month

Dealerships and manufacturers this month will be offering discounts on 2017 models yet to be sold and a few New Year’s discounts and benefits.


Pre-facelift Hyundai i20
Save up to Rs 85,000
The i20 facelift was recently launched at the Auto Expo 2018. The premium hatchback is a rival to Honda’s Jazz and the Maruti Baleno. It trumps on a spacious cabin and upmarket-looking interiors. Dealers are looking to push unsold stock of the outgoing model depending on inventory, which is why they are offering discounts and benefits in the range of Rs 85,000 at most locations.

Maruti Ignis
Save up to Rs 63,000

Maruti’s unique-looking hatch is currently being offered with discounts of up to Rs 63,100 on 2017 petrol and diesel models. Benefits of up to Rs 58,100 can be availed on 2018 models as well. Available with a 83hp, 1.2-litre petrol and a 75hp, 1.3-litre diesel, a five-speed manual comes as standard though a five-speed AMT is also on offer.

Maruti WagonR 
Save up to Rs 50,000

Maruti’s popular hatchback now comes with an AMT gearbox too. The WagonR is big on the inside while still maintaining a small footprint, which is ideal for city use. It comes with decent amount of equipment and a refined petrol engine. Discounts in the range of Rs 50,000 are available on most variants, depending on inventory.

Nissan Micra CVT
Save up to Rs 75,000

The Nissan Micra, in its current generation, is a bit long in tooth. It comes with a 1.2-litre petrol engine mated to a CVT gearbox. Its feature list is on par with rivals and cabin space is decent too. The slow-selling hatchback from Nissan is available at a discount of Rs 75,000 at most locations.


Nissan Terrano
Save up to Rs 1.2 lakh

The Terrano comes with two diesels and a petrol engine option. The Terrano diesel can also be purchased with an AMT gearbox. The 110hp diesel is the pick of the lot. It rivals the Duster, Creta and the Mahindra Scorpio; however, sales are low. Dealers are offering benefits and discounts in the range of Rs 1.2 lakh, depending on availability.

Pre-facelift Maruti S-Cross
Save up to Rs 50,000

Benefits of up to Rs 50,000 can be availed on the pre-facelift S-Cross, which is available with the 1.3-litre diesel and the 1.6-litre diesel. Maruti is looking to push sales of the pre-facelift model in order to clear stocks of this Honda BR-V rival.


Nissan Sunny
Save up to Rs 1.2 lakh

The Sunny trumps with comfortable ride quality and a spacious cabin. The refreshed Sunny looks even more premium than earlier. It takes on the likes of stiff competition such as the Maruti Ciaz, Honda city and the Hyundai Verna. The slow-selling Japanese sedan is now available at discounts in the range of Rs 1.2 lakh at most dealerships.

Maruti Ciaz
Save up to Rs 1 lakh

Maruti’s Ciaz may be one of the best value-for-money contenders in its class thanks to ample cabin space, good ride quality and a decent equipment list. However, it not as much fun to drive and feels underpowered, at times, when compared to its competition, like the Honda City. Maruti is currently offering discounts of up to Rs 1.05 lakh on 2017 edition petrol and diesel models of its Verna rival, and up to Rs 95,000 on newer 2018 models.

Tata Zest diesel
Save up to Rs 1 lakh

The Tata Zest is the brand’s second compact sedan after the Indigo eCS. It takes on the Dzire, Xcent, Aspire and the Tigor. Diesel-powered 2017 models are being offered at discounts of around Rs 1 lakh on most variants. The Zest comes with a spacious cabin and a tried and tested 1.3-litre diesel engine that delivers 89hp. Haggle hard and you might end up getting more than what’s being offered.

Skoda Superb
Save up to Rs 1 lakh

The Superb has tremendous amount of rear legroom and also comes with a large boot. It ticks the right boxes on a smooth engine range and a long list of equipment. It suffers from the brand’s poor reputation in aftersales service. Discounts on the Skoda flagship sedan is now in the range of Rs 1 lakh, depending on inventory.

Ford Aspire
Save up to Rs 75,000

The Aspire takes on the likes of the Dzire and the Xcent. It shares its engine and gearbox with the Figo hatchback. Since a facelift is on the cards, along with a new petrol engine, dealers are offering discounts to the tune of Rs 75,000 on most variants.

Toyota Etios
Save up to Rs 65,000

The Etios’ USP is a comfortable cabin with great ride quality. However, it suffers from bland styling. It can be termed as a perfect sedan for the city, thanks to its easy-to-drive nature. Dealers are clearing unsold 2017 stocks by offering discounts to the tune of around Rs 65,000 at most locations, depending

Volkswagen Ameo
Save up to Rs 60,000

The Ameo takes on the Dzire, Amaze and the Zest, and is at the higher end of the compact sedan segment in our market. Its interiors give a premium feel and the car feels solid as far as build quality goes. However, its back seat is a bit cramped and the boot isn’t that big either. Dealers are offering discounts of around Rs 60,000 on the Ameo compact sedan.


Maruti Ertiga diesel
Save up to Rs 75,000

Maruti’s popular MPV comes with three rows of seats and strong petrol and diesel engine options. It gets a long list of variants that fits almost every buyer in the segment. Discounts in the range of
Rs 75,000 are on offer on the diesel Ertiga.
