13th Jun 2018 2:49 pm

Track day to be held at the Kari Motor Speedway on July 14; participation limited to Kawasaki bikes in the 900cc-plus segment.

Kawasaki has announced a special track event, titled the ‘Kaze Race Track Day’ at the Kari Motor Speedway racetrack in Coimbatore on July 14, 2018. The participation fee for the event is Rs 7,900, exclusive of accommodation, travel and transport expenses (for motorcycle shipping), which have to be borne by the owners.

For those curious amongst you, ‘Kaze’ in Japanese means wind. The objective behind the Kaze track day is to improve the riding skills of Kawasaki riders before heading to larger race tracks, hinting that Kawasaki has plans to host track days at the BIC and MMRT in the near future.

However, the Kaze Race Track Day is only open to Kawasaki customers with motorcycles upwards of 900cc. So owners of the Z250, Ninja 300, Versys-X 300, Ninja 400, Z650, Versys 650, Ninja 650, Z800 and Vulcan S cannot participate in the event. According to Kawasaki officials, the track day has been organised specifically for the brand's premium customers; but it does plan to host other events for those with sub-900cc Kawasaki motorcycles.

The Kaze Race Track Day has been organised in association with RACR (Rajini Academy of Competitive Racing). RACR is headed by ace Indian racer, Rajini Krishnan, who recently won the opening round of the 2018 Malaysia Superbike Championship. You can read more about RACR here.
