Forty Two Reasons Why I Must Have A Motorcycle…Honey!

Cover-of-M-BookMen who want to buy a motorcycle often face an uphill battle with a reluctant spouse or girlfriend. It may be about your 1st motorcycle, second, third one, etc. Long time rider R. Lowell Hake has felt the pain based on past encounters with the Motorcycle Antichrist living in his own home which he had to overcome. So, he wrote the 42 reasons you may use (hope you don’t have to use them all…) to convince a partner. His book is a “hilarious quick read” and “the ultimate biker bathroom book.”

The author readily admits it’s all in fun. “Any man who resorts to claiming ‘God wants me to’ in seeking his wife’s approval to buy a motorcycle might as well tattoo ‘buffoon’ in big letters across his sorry butt,” says Hakes. A few words you may practice before you go out and buy a motorcycle without her consent. “I already told my friends I was getting one so for the love of God don’t make me back out now”, “My manhood is at stake here”, “It’s less expensive than a therapist”, “I want to save the earth”, etc.

Good read. Do whatever it takes I say…nothin’ like life with motorcycles.

Heck, if I could only think of 42 reasons I “need” a motorcycle, my wife would think I was a wimp !

Just man up and buy the damn thing. It’s usually easier to ask for forgiveness than permission.

I just bought mine her own. Problem solved. Except I think the budget discrepancy for custom parts is a little biased in HER direction.

    I tried !!!
She came up with 43 reasons not to get a New Bike !!!!
She said if I had wrote them all down & published it first,
    I’d have the $$$ and could’ve bought a new bike !!!
    LOL !!!!

Having to ask is a good indication that your either doing it for the wrong reason or your asking the wrong wife.

@nicker – +1 on that. My wife has been riding longer than I have. As long as she has a bike she likes, I can buy any one I can afford. I should write a book about 42 Things To Look For In The Perfect Woman. My wife can ride a motorcycle, shoot a gun, drive a stick, fly an airplane, work a sewing machine, operate power tools, cook, bake, weld, rivet, sing, paint, knit, change a tire, rebuild a carburetor, fix major appliances, cuss like a sailor, quote Shakespeare, quote the Bible, siphon gas, speak a foreign language, raise a child, perform CPR, carries a pocketknife, holds a passport, went to college..
but most importantly, she puts up with my crap!

My wife insisted I buy a new FLTRU in 2013, now she’s talking about me getting a 2016. Just plain lucky, I guess. However I’m sure that many of us are drooling over Eric’s wife without the need of a picture.
