Product Placement. Ducati Sport 1000.

Product placement or embedded marketing. A form of “branded entertainment” with the vast majority of that (80%) in commercial TV programming and movies. A strategy for linking a brand to a relevant content to create an emotional connection with a specific target. This police chase scene is in fact a Ducati paid product placement from the movie Tron Legacy and features the Sport 1000 model.

    But really is it a good idea to promote running from the cops. Especially for the market they are targeting, young & inexperienced riders. Thumbs down!

    The exagerated lean angles when changing lanes is a bit (no…. a lot) hyperbolic . If Ducati paid for the placement, did BMW do the same ?

    If this is product placement (That Ducati denies paying for) wouldn’t it make more sense to place a bike in the movie that they actually still produce?

    I’m not arguing that they didn’t pay for it. I personally think they did. I’m just pointing out they are denying it.

    But why promote a bike they no longer produce? They make $0 on used motorcycle sales and o would think that the residual on brand recognition would negligent.

    They promote the brand. Paying? You can pay without “paying”. Just give the bike to the production. Many brands buy with free gifts. You didn’t know? (it’s not “negligent” but “negligible”)

    Who cares. Dumb placement. Mediocre editing. Not entertaining in the least. 90 seconds of my life I can’t rewind. Expen$ive, though. IMO

    Titan Motorcycles in their heyday “promoted” their Roadrunner in the first X-Men movie for Wolverines ride. The “toys of that bike” that was produced afterwards, put a Titan in little boys hands. Their Indy 500 bike, The Shelby bike, with matching Shelby Cars, Playboy Bike editions, Fender Guitars, KISS bike.
    Wether you “pay” upfront or do residuals the idea for any company is to PROMOTE the product. NOW, once you’ve got that, you needed to know how to RUN the companies that do this.
    Ducati sales last year and their constant new products line have shown this “Paid” promotions is a very successful avenue for them.

    The guys face when he stops says everything.
    One of the best feelings in the world is when you do something like this and get away with it
    and you are very lucky person if you never grow up.
